(8 full days and 2 half days, plus evening concerts & masterclasses, culminating in a public performance)

Fee: £685

A unique opportunity for singers, not able to commit to full-time weekly training programme, to receive top-level training in the perfect environment. The courses are designed for singers interested in opera, musical theatre and in all aspects of singing and performance, wishing to develop their skills by working with leading performers , coaches and teachers in a world-class, London conservatoire.  If you are someone working full-time, with the ambition to explore their passion for singing further, a post-graduate singer looking for a part-time course to develop the skills necessary to audition for professional work, a young singer, perhaps on a gap-year, preparing to audition for full-time, accredited courses, an international student, wanting to focus on both music and language in the major cultural centre of London, then these courses are ideal for you.

The Course offers classes in chorus and ensemble singing, characterisation and staging, jazz improvisation, warming-up, dance and movement, one-to-one voice and repertoire coaching.

Director of the Courses is Peter Knapp, TrinityLaban professor, who brings a wide range of experience as a singer, director and trainer of performers to the programmes. He heads a staff of other Trinity teachers together with distinguished practitioners with whom he works, both from the West End and from the worlds of opera and classical music. The Course above all guarantees a clear understanding of the muscular process involved in singing and performance, and offers a positive strategy for how to develop strength, stamina and flexibility further. For further details and to register for the course please contact Katie Windsor at Trinity k.windsor@trinitylaban.ac.uk

The Courses take place in the beautiful setting of Trinity College of Music, located in its magnificent Christopher Wren buildings in historic Greenwich. International Oratorio Choir - Workshop 16-21 October 2012, Riva del Garda (Italy) - Stabat Mater (G. Rossini) Gioacchino Rossini’s Stabat Mater is the central piece of church music written by this Italian opera composer. It is based on a mediaeval poem called Stabat Mater Dolorosa. Following Italian traditions of church music, Rossini divided the mediaeval sequence in Stabat Mater into clearly separated solo and ensemble movements. The care with which he undertook this task is reflected in the fact that he used no material from earlier works whatsoever. Stabat Mater contains both operatic elements and features of church music: lively melodic patterns and dynamic rhythms can be found alongside contrapuntal sections composed in the old style.

The rehearsals will be held on Lake Garda in Italy the International Oratorio Choir will be using the rehearsal rooms. The lake presents a wonderful spectacle of natural luminescence and colours, so that it is a unique holiday resort at any time of the year. The lakeside towns and villages with their architecture and imposing palazzi are a fascinating feature of this area. This enchanting environment will provide dedicated singers with a superb opportunity for an unforgettable musical event.

The final concert will be held at the Concert Hall in Riva del Garda (Italy) on 20 October 2012 at 20:00 hrs More information about this project: http://www.oratorio-choir.com/
