Australian Welsh Male Choir - The beginnings of the Choir can be traced
back to Christmas 1973 when a group of
predominantly Welsh expatriates, who loved singing, gathered together at the
Frankston Pines Soccer Club. They formed a Choir known as the “Cambrian
Singers”. They later became known as the Frankston Welsh Male Choir. The first
performance of this choir was on the 20th October 1974 at the dedication service
for the Chapel at the Victoria Police Academy, Glen Waverley. This occasion also
marked the first live outside broadcast in colour by ABC television who were
covering the service. On the 24th June 1980
the name was changed to The Victoria Welsh Male Choir and new colours were
presented to the Choir by Patron Mr. Sidney Baillieu Myer. In April
1985, the name was finally changed to
the Australian Welsh Male Choir.

St Andrew's Cathdral Choir, Sydney -
The Choir has been in existence for
over 139 years. It first sang at the consecration of the Cathedral
on St. Andrew's Day (30th November) 1868. It was given a secure
foundation in 1885 when Bishop Barry (the third Bishop of Sydney)
established St. Andrew's Cathedral School for the purpose of
educating the choristers to sing the services at the Cathedral. The
Choir of St. Andrew's Cathedral has been singing their worship to
the same Almighty God in the Cathedral in an unbroken tradition from
1868 until today. The present-day choir consists of approximately
forty members. Sixteen to twenty-two of these are choristers (boys
up to Year 9); four or five are choral scholars (boys from Year
10-12), and the remainder are lay clerks (gentlemen who sing the
lower parts).
